Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a physical gallery space in Toronto?

Circuit Gallery is primarily a virtual gallery. However, like you, we want and need to do things face-to-face in physical spaces. Learn more about our current special Projects and Collaborations. Sign up for our newsletter to stay informed about these projects and collaborations as well as any special events.

Can I pick up my order / prints in person?

If you live in the Toronto area and you are interested in saving on shipping costs, please select "pick-up" during check out, and then contact us at to make the necessary arrangements for you to come by and pick-up your order.

What type of prints do you offer?

We offer our editions as ink-jet prints (giclée) or digital c-prints (chromogenic photographs). The artist chooses the printing method and paper for their work. All our prints are made with the greatest attention to quality and a concern for permanence. We use only top-quality archival inks and fine-art papers for our ink-jet prints. The print type, specific to each image, is noted under the "Edition Info" tab on the individual "Artist Gallery" page.

Will my print look the same as the on-line image?

You can rest assured that the print you will receive will look better than its corresponding on-line version. It will look different in that the image you see on-line on the computer screen is back-lit, whereas the print that you will receive will reflect light. Also, keep in mind that size and paper quality will allow you to perceive a larger color spectrum and greater detail. In short, there will be a difference, but it will definitely be for the better!

Why is the print size (in some cases) different than the actual image size?

In order to offer affordable and accessible pricing we have 'streamlined' our process and chosen to work with standard print sizes. (Standard print sizes also allow you to buy ready-made frames to display your artwork.) However since we will never change the proportions or crop an artist's original image, the image is thus sized to maximally fill the selected dimension or standard print size offered (8"x10", 11"x14", 16"x20" etc.). So the actual "image size" can be different from the "print size." For example, an original artwork that is square will be fixed to the smallest dimension of the selected print size (e.g. Print Size: 16"x20" / Image size: 16"x16").

Why does Circuit Gallery offer such a large edition number?

Circuit Gallery represents an important new way of buying and selling contemporary art. In order to be able to offer quality contemporary art at affordable prices we have inverted the conventional and more exclusive art world formula of high prices for small editions or unique objects. Therefore, we offer relatively larger editions at lower, more accessible prices: $30, $60 or $120 CAD.

The art we sell is of the same quality, caliber or significance, as that found in respected contemporary galleries (indeed many of our artists have conventional dealers and such gallery representation), it is just that we strongly believe in making art more accessible and are working with our artists to achieve this. We think that more people, who like and appreciate a given work of art, ought to have an opportunity to make it a part of their life -- bring it home, live with it! (For more information about our "Mission & Model" please see the About Us section).

What is a 'Certificate of Authenticity'?

Every print sold through Circuit Gallery is mailed with a Certificate of Authenticity. This is a document that holds the print information, the edition number, and the artist’s signature.

Who holds the copyright of the imagery?

The artist retains the copyrights to their imagery. Please note that copyright law states that copyright is not transferred to the buyers of works of art (i.e. prints).

Do artists benefit from sales?

Absolutely! Circuit Gallery is very artist-centered. One of our main motivations is to provide a source of revenue for artists, so that they can spend more of their time, effort and energy in what they are best at: making art. After production costs, the artist will always receive an equal or greater percentage of sales revenue (depending on print size) than the gallery.

I am an artist. How can I get involved / sell work through Circuit Gallery?

Please refer to the Submission Guidelines in the About section.

How are prints packaged and shipped?

All of our prints are packaged in acid-free, archival, protective clear bags. (Please note that it is important not to touch the print directly as oils from your hands can damage the artwork. We recommend that you keep your prints in their protective bags until you are ready to transfer them to a frame.)

Our small prints are shipped in heavy board stay flat envelopes. Our larger prints are sent in rigid mailing tubes. All our packaging materials are recyclable, if not re-usable. (For more information on Shipping, Handling & Insurance please go to Customer Support.)

Do you offer Gift Certificates?

Yes! Our Gift Certificates are a fun and easy way to give the gift of art. Simply enter an amount, the recipient's email address, a personal message, and we will take care of the rest!

When you purchase a Gift Certificate the recipient will receive an email notifying them of your gift including a Gift Card with your personalized message, the amount given, and a redemption code. The recipient simply has to visit the site, choose their gift and apply the credit towards their purchase(s). Who is your market?

Artists, young professionals, college students, "people who have graduated from posters," starting and established art collectors, friends and family of the artists who otherwise can't afford to buy their work, anyone and everyone with an empty wall in their home, and last but not least anyone who is tired of the more conventional, mass-produced, stock-art that is available in the chain stores.

Do you offer framing?

Currently, Circuit Gallery only sells unframed work. We recommend that you buy ready-made frames with pre-cut mat boards for quick, affordable, and easy framing. If you would like to have the artwork you buy from us framed, please send us an email and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
