Alphabet City | Art from the Anthologies
About The Work
Smarties, 2004
Smarties presents the nostalgic childhood treat washed away of its color through licking on the surface. All eight colors display their own characteristics in the changed candy surface. The fading color mimics an erased surface, playing with candy pigmentation. Returning to the oral stage of psychosexual development, the exploration endured by putting an object into your mouth is revisited, this time with an analytical approach to gratification. The material and documentive truth is contaminated with the oral and erotic stimulation of licking.
Smarties, is part of Christine D'Onofrio's contribution to AbC's FOOD anthology.
